CalCISO participated in the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) K12 Conference in Orange County this week.
NICE is an effort to “promote and increase the K12 cybersecurity education programs on-going throughout the country, and address how K12 education is uniquely positioned to accelerate learning, identify methods to best nurture a diverse learning community, and provide approaches to guide career development and workforce planning for students,” as the organization states on its conference site.
In celebration, CalCISO granted four scholarships to cybersecurity educators for the 2020 NICE K12 Conference in St. Louis, Missouri.
Rodney Peterson, NICE Director, said of the scholarships, “The annual National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) K12 Cybersecurity Education Conference helps to increase the capacity of elementary, middle, and high school teachers and administrators to create awareness of cybersecurity careers and integrate cybersecurity content across the K-12 curriculum. The scholarships provided by the California Tech Council will help support teachers who are developing and mentoring the next generation of workers skilled in cybersecurity to meet the needs of the technology industry as well as other economic sectors.”
